Bardon Environmental now provide Asbestos Awareness Training for Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce

Bardon Environmental are pleased to announce that we will be providing Asbestos Awareness Training to the Chamber for the foreseeable future.

"This is testament to the quality of training we are offering to regional bussiness and national organisations alike" said Dr. Simon Houghton, Head of Bardon Environmental's Consultancy Division and principal trainer

The Asbestos Awareness training course is designed for companies with high-risk workers in the construction industry, such as joiners, plumbers, electricians, cable fixers and painters, as well as other workers in buildings which may contain asbestos.

This course is now mandatory and follows the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance relating to the dangers of working within buildings containing asbestos materials.

Courses are held locally and deliver the HSE’s approved syllabus, including the properties of asbestos and its effect on health, likely occurrence of asbestos in buildings, emergency procedures and
an introduction to the management of asbestos.

Chamber President Opens new Bardon Environmental HQ

Rotherham Chamber President Rob Hannon was on hand to do the honours as Bardon Environmental celebrated their relocation to new premises.

Following the expansion of Bardon’s Surveying Division back in April 2005, the firm acquired additional premises in Dinnington to accommodate Dr Simon Houghton, our newly appointed Senior Consultant and his expanding team of surveyors, before the recent move to Phoenix House in Kirk Sandall, Doncaster.

“It is fantastic to see Bardon Environmental continued investment and growth in their business and wish them all the best and support in their future,” said Rob Hannon.

“It is great testament and thanks to all members of the Bardon team and our customers that, even in such economically unstable times, we have managed to grow and provide additional services to our customers,” said Darren Crookes, Managing Director of Bardon Environmental Ltd.

“The establishment of our Consultancy Division was the final piece in the jigsaw for the company. Following a partial change of ownership earlier that year, Bardon Musker underwent a facelift and was re-branded as Bardon Environmental Ltd. Further investment in plant, vehicles and equipment plus the introduction of additional key members of staff, strengthened the foundations of the company, which had been steadily growing over the previous 30 years.

“We are now proud to offer our customers a total asbestos management package. Not only does our Consultancy Division provide type 1, 2 & 3 asbestos surveys/re-audits, we can assist the client in writing and updating his Asbestos Management Plan and provide his employees and sub-contractors with asbestos awareness training. We also provide operative training services for UK based training agencies and other contractors including two companies based in Cyprus.

“The Consultancy Division perfectly compliments our Contracts Division. With over 30 years in the industry and cumulatively in access of 120 years’ experience between the five most senior members of our Contracts Division, we have consistently provided a quality asbestos abatement service to our customers which I believe is second to none. It may be overused and a little bit of a cliché, but I honestly believe that when someone coined the phrase ‘big enough to cope, small enough to care’, it was perfect for Bardon Environmental.”

Although based in Yorkshire, and servicing local businesses, manufacturers, local authorities, schools and universities in this region, Bardon Environmental provide services to organisations across the UK and beyond. The company is associated with such ‘blue chip’ companies as the John Lewis Partnership, Waitrose, Nestle UK, Corus Steels, ITV Granada, O2 and Wilkinson Stores.
